citizens about poverty around the world. It contrains
the "Human Development Report" for 2001 as
well as current press releases and information by region.
- Population Reference Bureau

The Population Reference Bureau Website has current
articles with regards to population as well as a data
finder which gives customized statistics by country
and region. Use the following address to order or browse
the World Population Data Sheets for 2000: (http://www.prb.org/pubs/wpds2000/)
These statistics can be used with the suggested lesson
on Population Data. It also has an "Educators Forum"
which gives "tools for teaching about population
issues, trends and their implications." This site
also includes a glossary of popular population terms
and vocabulary.

This site is a section of Sustainable Development
DIMENSIONS, a service of the Sustainable Development
Department (SD) of the FAO. The information here consists
of news, analysis and resources on gender-population
concerns, especially in rural areas.

integrated applications that query and generate reports
and maps from remote environmental databases and servers,

and early warning of natural disasters worldwide. Links
are made to related sites. Keyword and geographic search
functions are also included.

The CIA World Fact Book has reference maps, notes and
definitions, and country listings. The country listing
section includes maps, flags, and information about
the geography, people, government, economy, communications,
transportation, and military of certain nations.

The World Bank web page gives country data information
as well as sample maps and goals for development. It
also gives world development indicators and ways to
work with data.
- United Nations Population Information Network (POPIN)

This web page gives information on World Population
Trends such as Mortality and Migration, Fertility and
Family Planning, and World Population Estimates and
Projections as well as Population Policies. It also
gives data at a glance on information such as international
migration policies, abortion policies, and world contraceptive
use in 1998 as well as world fertility patterns from
1997. This is an excellent source for charts and graphs
of recent population data.

data regarding population.

This website estimates the current world population
and the current U.S. population. This website also has
a link for educators. It also has current and up to
date articles on population and population growth around
the world. You can also order the "World Population"
Video (Millenium Edition) here for $19.95. This 7 minute
video simulates human population growth as the years
roll by with lights on an illustrated map. It also comes
with a 12 page Activities guide.
