LESSON: 1
OBJECTIVE(S) - The learners will be able to:
1. Introduce themselves to their partner in Canada/Mexico/USA
2. Ask questions about their partner in Canada/Mexico/USA
3. Respond to questions received from partner in Canada/Mexico/USA
*Please note that this lesson will take at least two trips to the
computer lab. The first trip, the students will introduce themselves
and ask questions. The second trip, the students will respond to
their partner.
MATERIALS:
1. Computers with Internet Access
2. Email addresses
WARM-UP:
1. Teach students how to send email.
- Open email
- Type in accurate email address
- Type in a subject
- Type message and edit
- Print and submit to teacher
- Send
ACTIVITIES:
1. Teacher explains that students are to write in the language that
they are learning.
- Canadian students write in English
- Mexican students write in English
- American students learning Spanish, write in Spanish
- American students learning French, write in French
2. In the first trip to the computer lab, the students have two
goals:
- Students will write a few sentences explaining who they are
- Students will ask a few questions to their partners in either
Canada/Mexico/USA.
3. In the second trip to the computer lab, the students have two
goals:
- Read message from partner abroad
- Answer all questions
CLOSURE:
1. Ask a student sitting next to you to read over the message before
clicking "SEND."
2. Edit your message. Check for correct spelling and word phrases.
3. Print out your message and submit to teacher.
4. Send message.
5. Click here for student emails between the USA
and Mexico.
6. Click here for student emails between the USA
and Canada.
ASSESSMENT:
1. Email messages can be assessed for correct spelling and sentence
structures.
