THEME: Peaceful Conflict Resolution
LESSON: 10
OBJECTIVE(S) - The learners will be able to:
1. Create conflict scenario pictures to send to partners in Mexico,
Canada, or USA
2. Identify the bully, the victim, and the problem
3. Ask, “What is a solution to the conflict?”
4. Create solution scenario pictures to send to partners in Mexico
and Canada
MATERIALS:
1. Drawing Paper
2. Crayons, Markers, or Colored Pencils
3. Computers and Internet access
ACTIVITIES:
1. Teacher explains that for this activity, Canadian, Mexican and
American students will draw a picture of a conflict scenario for
their email partner.
- Students will write a title on the drawing.
- Ex. "Soccer Upset"
- Students will sign their names on the back of the drawing.
2. Teacher explains that when the drawings are completed, he/she
will send them to our partners in the other country.
3. Once our partners have received the drawings, the teacher will
distribute the pictures to the email partners.
4. The email partner will draw a picture in which they show a solution
to the conflict.
Students will write the same title that their partner used and add
the word, "Solution."
- Ex. "Soccer Upset: A Solution"
- Students will sign their name on the back of the drawing.
5. Teacher will send these back to the students email partners.
CLOSURE:
1. Student volunteers will dramatize one of the scenarios sent from
email partners.
2. Student volunteers lead a class discussion asking the following
questions:
- "What is the problem?"
- "How does the bully feel?"
- "How does the passive child feel?"
- "How does the assertive child feel?"
- “What is a peaceful solution to the problem?”
ASSESSMENT:
1. Teacher observation and perceptions of classroom interaction
and students participation will be the basis of evaluation for the
accuracy of pronunciation and correct use of sentence structures.
